The East Devon Physiotherapy and Sports injury Clinic is to be found in Church Street, Sidford. There are 6 physiotherapists associated with the practice, 4 of which hold regularly weekly treatment lists; Heather Martin (Practice Principal), Rebecca Sharples, Helen Dixon, and Andrew Larmour. Shelley Walls has been on Maternity leave and plans to return in September, Jane Roberts provides moving and handling instruction to businesses in the area.
All Physiotherapists are available to treat Musculo skeletal conditions (backs, necks, general muscle and joint problems),sports injuries, neurological conditions(eg.Strokes ,MS, Parkinsons disease),rehabilitation following surgery and rehabilitation of the elderly.
Heather Martin - Chartered Physiotherapist
Heather Martin qualifies as a Chartered Physiotherapist at Cardiff School of Physiotherapy in 1979.After Working in The R D & E (Wonford) for 15 months she took a post at Kalundborg Sugehus in Denmark as a Physiotherapist but was also locum Superintendent Physiotherapist for a period of time.On returning to the UK in 1981 she took up posts in the Princess Elizabeth Orthopaedic Hospital in Exeter followed by the Day hospital , outpatients and Ante/Post Natal in Sidmouth before Starting in Private Practice in 1986 by opening her own Practice from home. Heather has completed extensive postgraduate studies in musculoskeletal conditions and sports injuries and obtained a Diploma in Orthopaedic Medicine in 1992. More recently she has also learned and developed techniques in practicing Acupuncture for pain relief and Myo Fascial Release and Energy techniques.
In 2000 The Premises in Sidford were purchased and after conversion the Practice was moved there and renamed East Devon Physiotherapy and Sports Injury Clinic. Heather continues to manage and develop the Practice and holds weekly clinical lists in conjunction with her associates.
